Household tool kit

Have you ever heard the quote, “If you spend you life trying to be good at everything, you will never be great at anything”? This can pertain to anything whether it be playing 5 different sports, or trying serve 100 different items on a restaurant menu. There are some exceptions though, and this includes an all-in-one house tool kit for most of you needs.

Know what you need

When it comes to general home/property repair you need a wide array of tools. This includes;

  • A good set of wrenches, channel locks, and adjustable wrench. This can be used for plumbing, automotive, piping, parts replacement, pumps, small engine repair and much more. Its always good to have these on hand.
  • Set of drivers with different lengths and types. Having stubby drivers are beneficial because they allow you get into tight places. Screw driver bits are small pieces such as star bits, hex, square flat, Phillips and much more. This allows you to have much more ability to tackle any job that comes you way.
  • Torpedo level or regular level. This can be used for hanging stuff on walls, putting in a new hot water heater, making a sure is flat on the floor, etc, etc
  • Hammer, this is one is self-explanatory.
  • A ratchet and socket. This is not as commonly used around a home as the other tools, but still can come in handy if you do light automotive maintenance like changing oil or air filters.
  • Tape measure, this is a great tool for new home projects and measuring if something is going to fit in a space.
  • Utility knife and scissors. I probably do not have to tell you what these items can be used for, but a few things you might not know is utility knifes are good for pre cutting drywall, and cutting rubber hoses.
  • Little hack saw. If you do not have access to an electric sawzaw or you just plan on doing minor modifications that only require a small amount of use than this is it. This is stuff like adding a new bathroom vanity and using it to modify, trimming a small tree, and any other small home improvement modification.
  • Zip ties and spring clamps. Zip ties can be used for anything! From child proofing you cabinets, to holding up a brake caliper while you are replacing your brakes. One major thing I use spring clips for is closing opened bags of chips! seriously though I use them to clamp hoses while i work on my vehicle.
  • Precision scew drivers. For sensitive electronics and small items that you new thought you could open up.

Quality vs quantity

Let’s face it if you not working in a shop every day and using these tools to make you money than you don’t need the most expensive snap-on quality tools. A good set of tools will meet most of you needs without you having to go back and forth to the store. I am by no means saying buy cheap tools, but when it comes to having an all-in-one set of tools at you home you want a good balance of both quality and quantity. Chances are these tools will probably sit dormant.

Price point

My General rule of thumb is if I have to borrow a tool more than 3 times than I should probably looking in to purchasing it. At $80 this “>PROSTORMER tool kit offers everything you would need and made with high quality, heat treated steel with corrosion resistance. You don’t need to spend $500 on a basic tool kit for around the house.
